Meet our 6th Dan Karate Instructor, All Africa Games medalist, and fitness expert with over 25 years of experience in the industry. At 57 years young, he has achieved more in his lifetime than many could dream of.
As a former captain and coach of the Zimbabwe National Karate Team for over 10 years, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share.
He achieved his black belt at the young age of 16, setting the stage for his illustrious career in martial arts and fitness.
In addition to his karate accolades, he is a qualified mental health first aider and personal trainer, dedicated to helping others improve both their physical and mental wellbeing. He enjoys training, fishing especially on Lake Kariba, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
His passion for fitness has led him to explore a variety of training methods, including resistance bands and pad work, which are easy on the joints and highly effective. He loves to watch his younger children playing sports and is dedicated to changing people's lives for the better, both physically and mentally.

JKA Shotokan Karate is a martial art style that originated in Japan and was developed by Gichin Funakoshi in the early 20th century. Shotokan Karate emphasizes the development of physical and mental strength through rigorous training and discipline.
The JKA (Japan Karate Association) is the largest and most prestigious Shotokan Karate organization in the world, founded in 1949 by Funakoshi's top students. The JKA is responsible for maintaining the quality and standards of Shotokan Karate worldwide.
JKA Shotokan Karate emphasizes the use of powerful and precise techniques, with a focus on strong stances and fluid movements. Training in Shotokan Karate involves a combination of kihon (basics), kata (forms), and kumite (sparring).
In kihon, practitioners practice basic techniques such as punches, kicks, blocks, and strikes. Kata involves practicing pre-arranged sequences of movements and techniques, which are designed to develop muscle memory and enhance the practitioner's understanding of the techniques. Kumite involves sparring with an opponent, which helps practitioners develop their timing, distance, and strategy.
JKA Shotokan Karate also emphasizes the importance of discipline, respect, and humility. Practitioners are expected to adhere to a strict code of conduct and etiquette, which includes showing respect for their instructors, fellow students, and the art itself.
Overall, JKA Shotokan Karate is a demanding and rigorous martial art that requires a high level of dedication, discipline, and perseverance. However, it can also be a deeply rewarding and enriching experience, both physically and mentally.
